How to play
Clear the board by removing matching pairs of tiles. A tile is free when no tile rests on top of it and at least one side — left or right — is open. Tap or click a free tile to select it, then tap a matching free tile to remove both. A tile that flashes red is blocked and can't be selected yet.
Most tiles match only their exact twin. The exceptions: any flower (梅 蘭 菊 竹) matches any other flower, and any season (春 夏 秋 冬) matches any other season.
Features
- Two layouts (Turtle and Pyramid); every deal is guaranteed solvable.
- Difficulty setting — Easy, Medium, Hard — based on how many choices each deal gives you.
- Game numbers: the number in the corner identifies the deal. Enter it in the toolbar to replay that exact board or share it with someone else.
- Daily: one shared game number per day — everyone playing the daily gets the same board.
- Undo (also right-click on empty felt), hints, pause, and best times saved in this browser.
- Reshuffle: stuck with no moves left? Re-deal the remaining tiles into a solvable arrangement and keep playing. Reshuffling clears the undo history, and a reshuffled game doesn't count for best times.
- Keyboard shortcuts: N new game, U undo, H hint, R reshuffle (when stuck), D daily, P/Esc pause, ? this help.
Notes
- Character, wind, flower, and season tiles carry a small Latin letter or numeral in the corner for players who don't read kanji.
- On a phone, turn it sideways (landscape) for much bigger tiles.
- Game numbers are not interchangeable with the desktop (Rust) version of neojongg — the same number deals a different board.
